Nutritional Therapy consultations
Understanding the process
As a registered Nutritional Therapy practitioner, I will embed personalised nutritional therapy within an established framework of practice. This enables a systematic process to be followed, but enables a network approach to be taken to complex systems and incorporate the latest science and nutrition research, which will inform individualised recommendations.
-
Nutritional therapists follow a framework which enables a systems based approach to be applied, with each client at the core of their assessment.
Before an initial consultation, you will be asked to complete an intake form (s) , this is a detailed form which will enable me to identify potential triggers and mediators of your symptoms.
Outcome measurement form - a simple form to keep us on track of your symptoms and your scoring of these on measurable scales.
Copies of recent tests both private or NHS.
A food diary will be needed to help correlate symptoms with your current nutritional intake.
I will use your information to prepare for our consultation, I will ensure that any suggestions and proposed interventions are relevant to you, they will be realistic, tangible and within your resource limits.
-
This is a collaborative session, in which I will gather further information from you and provide my assessment of your health questionnaire based on systems based analysis of the information provided through the intake process During this session, we will work to identify changes that can be made nutritionally, additional information we may need to gather (such as engagement with your GP to run tests),identify and discuss any functional tests and the merits of investing in a functional test, and discuss any supplements that are recommended to you.
After the session you will receive your first Health Optimisation plan, A follow up session will take place 4-6 weeks after the initial consultation, depending on requirements, if a functional test is recommended I will plan the follow up session to enable the results to be included in our next session
-
Your plan will be sent to you within 3 working days of your initial consultation with me. This will be completely tailored to your life, your preferences and your current resource position, whether this be time, energy, finances and preferences. The plan will reflect our session and enable you to start to implement changes.
Incremental achievable steps – small change is the foundation of lasting habits with this in mind, I work to ensure that the changes are possible, within your remit and you are happy with them. You should feel motivated, positive and able to make the changes.
The plan will include evidence based interventions, covering dietary, lifestyle, recipe ideas, supplement and functional recommendations.
-
Follow up appointments take place between 4 and 6 weeks after the initial appointment, depending on your individual requirements. Timing will consider any test results we may need to wait for, along with enough time to make and feel change.
This appointment lasts between 45 minutes and an hour, we will review progress made, changes to symptoms and additions or alterations to your health optimisation plan

Functional tests are an assessment of an identified system in your body, for example digestive, metabolic, immune, hormonal and genetic.
Functional tests enable a system to be assessed from the lens of understanding why, and what can be implemented to support health.
Testing samples vary, but often use home collection of urine, saliva and stool specimens. A blood draw is required for some, as a registered phlebotomist this is possible at my clinic.
I will suggest tests where appropriate based on my professional judgement.
